Ok, today is a day for "random" thoughts.

Why is devotion or enthusiasm for the work of God seen as extreme, fanatical or misplaced?
  • What I often see is good and well-meaning people over play the cause of Christ by trying to get others to "believe" their message before knowing what the other person's worldview is. What makes this worse is they often do not even want to know. It becomes,"My way or no way"! This one sided position leaves others looking at the Christian view as narrow. The fact is; it is a narrow path. Yet the only way for anyone to find this path as a plausible option is to allow the discussion to become infused by the presence of the Holy Spirit working in the moment to bring understanding and conviction (1Corinth 3:7), and this happens when we are genuine in our motives and purpose while leaving our efforts to the will of God. Fanaticism consists in redoubling our effort when we have forgotten our aim.
